Waterloo go National

NATIONAL AWARDS FOR WATERLOO PRIMARY ACADEMY STAFF

Waterloo Primary Academy were double winners at the National Support Staff awards in Birmingham on Saturday 18th October. Lynne Roberts won the ‘caterer of the year award’ for her hard work and leadership of her team which now runs the school catering for Waterloo Academy. New menus, local suppliers, a commitment to making meals from ‘scratch’, great pupil input and Lynne’s determination to get things right were all noted by the judges. Steve Morrissey was named winner of the ‘pupil development award’ for his innovative IT work and development of several online applications that make teaching and learning more effective.

Nominations were taken from all schools across the country so it is quite an achievement for a Blackpool school to secure two top awards. Mark Gray, Principal at Waterloo Primary Academy said “Both Steve and Lynne are valued members of the staff, it is a real honour for them to be recognised nationally and it is well deserved. They are part of successful support teams who ensure our school can give our children the very best learning experiences”.
